Call Audio Issues Monday 23rd February 2026 10:45:00

Telnyx, our primary carrier (which provides connectivity to other phone networks), is currently experiencing audio issues.

To minimize impact, we’ve redirected all outbound calls through our backup carrier, so outbound calling should continue to work normally.

Inbound calls are more complex, since your phone numbers are registered with a specific carrier and can’t be instantly moved. We’re actively investigating a temporary call-forwarding path to route inbound calls from Telnyx to our secondary carrier until Telnyx resolves the issue.

Inbound calls now appear to be working normally. We're continuing to monitor, and will be researching options for automated failover to a secondary carrier when incidents arise in the future.

Following Friday's outage

Friday’s incident, while it impacted Telnyx (and therefore ZynoTalk), was rooted in an outage affecting Cloudflare—a security and networking provider used by many companies—so the disruption extended well beyond Telnyx alone.

More broadly, like any carrier, Telnyx has experienced occasional outages over the years. Major disruptions are rare, but when an upstream incident affects service in a way we can’t directly control, we treat it seriously: we review what happened, assess impact, and re-evaluate whether our upstream carrier remains the best choice compared to alternatives—considering reliability, security posture, support responsiveness, call quality/network performance, and cost.

After each review, we have consistently concluded that Telnyx remains the strongest overall fit for powering ZynoTalk, and they are widely used across the industry by companies of all sizes, including many providers like us.

What is an upstream carrier?

Upstream carriers (like Telnyx) provide the underlying connectivity between ZynoTalk and the rest of the telephone network—i.e., they handle the “last mile” of getting a call or text to/from other carriers (T-Mobile cell phone, AT&T landline, etc.).

ZynoTalk sits on top of that connectivity and delivers the customer-facing communications system: routing calls and messages to desk phones and mobile apps, powering IVRs and call flows, enabling internal extension dialing, voicemail, call recording, and the admin/user interface that ties it all together.

In other words, upstream providers deliver raw PSTN/SMS transport, while ZynoTalk enables customers to operate and manage a complete business phone system.
